Jerry Mosby’s cumulative record for his high school coaching career was 299 wins and 132 losses. His success in basketball landed him an opportunity in 1963 to become head coach at a new college with about 600 students: Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton.

Mosby didn’t miss a beat in terms of success while coaching at Blue Mountain. In his 24 years as head basketball coach (1963-1987) and 23 years as the athletic director, he guided the Timberwolves to five league championships. Blue Mountain won the Oregon Community College Athletic Association basketball titles in 1966, ’70 and ’73 and took third place in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Region tournament in 1967 and 1970.

His best team was the 1969-70 squad which won 18 straight league games, going undefeated in the 12-team league. It has never duplicated in the OCCAA.

His record at BMCC was 381 wins against 243 losses.

In 1988 Mosby was inducted into the NWAACC sports hall of fame ‘Roll of Honor’ as a charter member and was honored again in 2005 when his 1969-70 team was elected to the NWAACC hall of fame. In addition to basketball, Mosby coached baseball for 11 years, golf for eight and track for 10 years at BMCC.

In 2007 BMCC acknowledged Mosby’s outstanding contribution to Timberwolves basketball by naming the basketball and volleyball court “Mosby Court.”

After retiring in 1987 Mosby and Ruby have spent their time in Pendleton enjoying their children: Susan, Joyce, Jan, Tom, Loa and Eileen and their13 grandkids and nine great-grandchildren.
