Mike Rice graduated from Twin Falls High School (Idaho) in 1983 where he was a three-sport All Star. He was All-State in football as a quarterback and punter, led the basketball team to runner-up in the state basketball tournament and placed in the state tennis tournament.

Rice was recruited by CCS head coach Bob Everson and had an outstanding football career at Spokane. He was rewarded by being selected to the NWAACC First Team as a wide receiver and as the all purpose rusher. He led the NWAACC in scoring with eleven touchdowns and was named as the NWAACC Offensive Player of the Year in 1984.

He also played number one singles and was named as MVP on the CCS tennis team for head coach Wally Heidenson before going on to play football for the University of Montana.

Rice was named to the All-Big Sky football team as a wide receiver, punter and return specialist in both 1985 and 1986.

After graduation he was drafted by the New York Jets and played several years of professional football, both as a receiver and as a punter.

Married to Tammie, with two children, Rice has had a 20 plus year career as a paramedic in the Bay area of California.
