Came to Whatcom in 1978 as their Vice President for Instruction before becoming the President in 1984. Started his career in community colleges in 1966 when he was a faculty member and the Director of Student Development at Skagit Valley. Became the Director of Student Services for the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges in 1973 before his arrival at Whatcom. Under his leadership, WCC initiated its intercollegiate athletic program in 1996 with men's and women's basketball adding volleyball in 1999 and men's soccer in 2005. Orca teams have since won or shared eight North Division championships, and the men's soccer team captured the NWAACC title in 2006. Was the leader in planning and construction Whatcom Pavilion and Orca Field, the college's athletic facilities. He was inducted into the WCC Hall of Distinction in 2005 and is the school's first inductee into the NWAACC Hall of Fame. He will retire as WCC President in June.
